2 Kings 6:16 comes from a moment when the prophet Elisha and his servant find themselves surrounded. An enemy army has encircled the city during the night, and from the outside, the situation looks hopeless.

But Elisha answers without fear. He tells his servant that those who are with them outnumber those against them—then prays that the servant’s eyes would be opened. In that moment, the servant sees the hills filled with horses and chariots of fire: God’s unseen army, standing guard.
